TGIF

This week was my first week back at work. It sucked! After being off for a week I dreaded waking in that place every day this week. Although, it was a pretty slow and uninteresting week. We had our Christmas dinner at work yesterday. It's wasn't too bad for white people cooking...it actually had seasoning...LOL!

I did get some bad news from Common today...he didn't get the job in Chicago. He and I are trying to move back to the Chi as soon as possible to live happily ever after. The plan would have put him there first since an identical position as the one he is in now came available in Chicago at his company. While I was in NYC last week visiting he took a day trip to Chicago to interview. HR told him today that he didn't get the job. His spirits were a little low...he's so use to getting what he want's that this was a blow to his ego, although he bounced back quick and said that he was going to focus on being the best analyst at his job in NYC, so the next time he wants to make a move they'll be begging him to come. That's what I'm talking about...turning defeat into a challenge or an opportunity. That's why I love him.

My boy Con had a party this week for his b-day at this spot called the Milky Way. The place is a nice low-key joint, but I just wish he would have briefed me on the dynamic of the place on a Wednesday night. Let me preface what I am about to type next by saying that I have no problems with the homosexual lifestyle...to each its own...but, when I walked in there I was stunned. Everytime I turned my head some chick was kissing or dancing with another one or I would catch some chick sizing up one of my girl. Dude you could have told me. Honestly, I wasn't uncomfortable...the crowd was mixed in ethnicities, gender and sexual orientation, but clearly Milky Way caters to the gay population. I came to this conclusion when I saw a sign that eluded to that fact at the coat check. I had a good time anyway. Even though I was sitting at the bar wanting to dance, but looking and feeling all stiff from the back drama. LOL!!!!

Earlier in the week I had a little drama with this hater. I'm gone for the week and come back to all these slanderous comments said and written about me on her blog. She called me a bitch!!! Can you believe that? See where I'm from...the southside of Chicago...those are fighting words. But, because I am a young urban professional that no longer resorts to my fist to prove my point or right a wrong doing I just put her on my shit list where she will remain and continue to stink. I just won't deal with her, care about her, acknowledge her presence or anything else. I know jealousy when I see, hear and read it...so, I'll leave it at that. But, I do pose one question and I've posed it before on another post to the same person. I just didn't mention why because I didn't want to stoop to their level. When you have someone with so much turmoil in their lives you know and understand that although you may be the target you are not the problem. And, I understand that. I've been known to lash at people in the past that I thought I had a problem with or I imagined had a problem with me all because I was hurt inside and dissatified with me and my life. When I recognized this pattern...I started taking responsibilite for me and what's not right in my life. As a result, I no longer give control of my life, emotions, opinions, and action to other people. She needs to follow my lead and look within herself to identify the root of all her evil. Because I am not the reason she is unhappy with herself, her life, her job, her lack of having a man, her weight, etc, etc,. So, while she embarks on the voyage of self discovery and actualization I ask her...

CAN I LIVE???

You will never here me utter another word about her or to her no matter how much time she chooses to dedicate to me.

This being a bigger person stuff stinks :(

I've Fallen & I Can't Get Up!!!

That's right people...It's official. I've sprained my back!

I woke up this morning and couldn't move. My body hurts from the base of my neck to the botton of my butt. I could barely put on my shirt over my head this morning. So, of course I didn't go to work. Instead, I went to the doctor. According to the overpaid specialist...I've sprained my back and pulled a few muscles...duh! I could have kept my $15 co-pay for that diagnois. Although, I will say she hit me off with some good presciptions...Ibuprofen and Flexiril. She also wrote me a doctor statement suggesting I stay off work until Friday. I had to argue for that. At first she tried to send me back to work on Thursday...WTF! I'm looking at her like, HELLO!!! I just slipped on ice, went up in the air and landed on my back and you want me to go to work in 2 days. Bitch, if I could lift my arm high enough I would slap you for suggesting that. That's what I wanted to say, but instead I told her that I disagreed and would prefer that she at least put down 3 FULL DAYS to take my medicine and get well...Geesh! Then she started on a spiel about how many days I have off and how my job would react...blah, blah, blah. I had to cut her off in mid-sentence and tell her to let me worry about that. I actually had to say that to get her to do her damn job! Finally, she wrote the letter and added that I could come back on Friday or whenever I felt better. So, I won't be back in until Monday :) Why go back on a Friday? I may as well recover as best I can. In the meanwhile, I'm going to NYC tomorrow to spend sometime with Common to let him take care of me. He suggested it...that way I can be waited on hand and foot or should I say neck and back. Although, he's a little sick himself, so we'll be nuturing each other back to health. That's even better...teamwork!

I was suppose to leave tonight, but Walgreens decided they needed 4 hours to fill a prescription. Even when I went back at 8 it wasn't done. So, I decide to get my pictures out of the photo shop...they couldn't find them. I swear this has to be the most incompetent Walgreens in Boston. The lady at the photo counter is telling people that she can't find their pictures and they have to come back tomorrow and see the manager. When she tells me that I told her ass that I don't have tomorrow to come back, so she'll need to find them now. I guess she could tell by the look on my face that I meant business because she found them all of a sudden...Lazy Heffa! I go back to the pharmacy counter and the prescription still wasn't ready...Damn. How long does it take to put 20 pills on one bottle, 60 pills in another bottle and grab a box of Ortho Evra? Is it that hard? It must be because I was in Walgreens for an hour waiting on a prescription that I dropped off 4 hours before...

Oh, and POPS my eye isn't messed up. The puffiness went down and scratch is barely visible. The glasses softened the blow of the radio. Had I not had the glasses on I would have had a nice shiner with a few stitches.

Well, I just took a Flexiril and if the directions are correct then I should be out like a light in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

Whew (((As I finally exhale)))

My life has been so full that I haven't had time to write about it. Nor, have I had time to even thank the people that have been reading my blog and writting comments, so THANK YOU!

Stress manifests itself in so many ways...I'm just thankful that my hair doesn't fall out or that my skin doesn't break out. My life is in a uproar....this is one of those times that I am glad that I know Jesus. Seriously! When all else fails I pray. Please believe that I have been praying profusely over the last couple of weeks to get some peace of mind, some peace and quiet, and some peace and relaxation.

This past week, in particular, has been very trying and tiring. I spent all week packing in preparation for moving this weekend. Then we had a party on Friday (The Young Urban Professionals), which took up my Thursday for preparation. Common and his friend Elton came in town on Friday evening, so I had to pick them up from the bus station, drop them off to get dressed and rush to the party to set-up. Saturday, I painted my new apartment and laid tile...with the help of my boo and company, but still it took all day. We started at 10 am and I didn't make it home until 10 pm. Then Sunday rolls around (today) Lights, Camara, Action...

This move has to have been the worst move I have ever made. This was definitely one of those times that I wished I had enough stuff to warrent paying for a moving company. Luckily, I have a good man and friends. Otherwise, I would have been up shit creek without a paddle...I know that's a stale analogy...sue me. First of all, I get up this morning and there is a blanket of snow on my car...WTF!!!! Who the hell told it to snow in the winter time?!? HUH! Next, my bookcase was broken (it was later fixed). Finally, I slipped in the snow while carrying a radio and my legs went from under me and I landed on my back. The radio fell out of my arms and onto the left side of my face breaking my glasses. The frame broke and lense popped out and my face was cut. I felt like Ralphie in A Christmas story when he broke his glasses while shooting the BB gun. So, we are all standing there searching through snow for a clear lense, go figure. I found the lense and had to tape my glasses up to finish moving. Luckily, I have contacts or I would look real stupid going to work tomorrow. All I could do was just go in the bathroom and cry. After all this crap with this apartment (new and old) I top it off by injuring myself and breaking a pair of $600 frames! I have never ever seen anyone in these frames and now their broken and I bought them 3 years ago in STL, so the likelihood of me finding them again is slim to none. To keep positive I have tried to identify the sliver lining in the cloud... at least had the glasses on. Had I not, I would have easily had a black eye or needed stitches based on the way the radio hit me in the face. My back is another story, though. My body hurts from the base of my neck to the back of my thighs. I'm scared as hell to go to sleep...I'm afraid that when I wake up I won't be able to move...LOL! Oh well...What can I do? At least that part of the moving process is over. Even though my apartment looks like shit (I have crap everywhere) and the gas isn't on...they will be out tomorrow, so I'm staying at Dora's house. Her place is actually close to work, so it isn't that bad. But, still...

I have this stupid 3 day training to attend starting tomorrow and I am dreading it immensely...especially now that I've fallen and couldn't get up. I gotta laugh at myself to stay sane.

On A Brighter Note...

I met Common's family over the Thanksgving holiday. They all came up to NYC and spent the holidays with him. It was very enjoyable time. They embraced me immediately. I have to admit that I was extremely nervous. I mean, meeting the parents is a major deal...especially since his father is a pastor. I was afraid he would come up to me like dude did in Shallow Hal and say Devil Be Gone...LOL! That had to be the funniest part of that movie...I digress. Common's sister are polar opposites. One is a 13 year old diva. She reminded me of one of the girls off of Super Sweet 16 and the other one is a 16 year old tom-boy. His father had on a fanny pack and an earpiece. I thought that was the funniest thing ever. I guess as you get older it's all about being comfortable...LOL! It just kills me to see older people trying to flaunt their versions hipness. His mother and aunts had me in the kitchen snapping peas and cleaning greens. I felt so domisticated and anyone that knows me knows that the kitchen is not my room of choice. it will be his turn on Christmas...he's meeting my family! He and I are both going to Chicago for the holidays...we're both from Chicago for those of you that don't know. I plan on dragging him around and introducing him to my peeps. We'll see how much he likes me after this...LOL! I've tried to prepare him, but somethings you can never be prepared for. You know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, my family isn't the worst...but, they are a little weird to me sometimes. You can't change where you come from, so I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it.

Damn, my back hurts! I have to take some pain killers and lay it down...
